Niangua Darter

Gouache on hot press heavyweight watercolor paper and air-brushed background. Artwork was created to draw attention to this beautiful small fish that is endemic to Missouri's Ozark streams. The Darter is in its breeding colors and heading upstream to seek its mate indicated by the use of the minnows swimming naturally downstream.
